Giving Directions / Help Little Red Riding Hood to find her granny!

Keep your eyes on Granny and click on the right answer...
Giving directions is mostly a boring subject, but when I showed this flash to my students even the most unrelucted students laugh and keeps his/her eyes on granny. And at the final answer they get excited and laugh at the escape of the wolf. So the main point, to gain their attention is successfully enabled.

Happy Birthday

Birthday vocabulary and simple future...
Here is "How a surprise party can be given!" The target vocabularies are given step by step with pictures and multiple choice tests. The illustrations are funny. This work is awesome especially for sixth grade students in Turkey. The vocabularies are compatible with the "Happy Birthday" unit. İ. Gürkan BOZKURT.

Daily Routines / Simple Present / Test

Click on the right option and then the next button for the next question.
This work is based on SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE. It is a test and its targets are; to revise the simple present in general, to remind the students when to add -s to the verb or not and finally to remind them the daily routine expressions. After the test, as a post activity you may ask the students; "Now, listen everybody... listen and do...close your eyes... and think of the future... you are in 2050... everybody, think how old you are... okay... it is December... the day is Monday... you hear an alarm clock... it is ringing... you wake up and...." here want your students to write a passage about how the day starts, goes on and ends. To speak frankly, if you want them to tell anything without the fear of making mistakes they can surprise you... Whenever I do this exercise I meet with great enthusiasm, eager and creativeness... and also lots of lauhgter. Because when kids thinks themselves as an adult (for example married with children and going work), this excites them a lot. And this gives a great pleasure to a teacher when they do it this way. İ. Adjectives / Find the opposite adjective

Click on the opposite picture and then the next button for the next question.
The aim in preparing this slide was to practice and teach the adjectives with its opposites. You can use it to teach the adjectives or when you want your students use "to be verb" ( He is old/tall...) and also as a warm up before you teach comperatives and superlatives. With this they can revise the adjectives. If the students know the word and click on the right picture, an animation appears. However if they click on the wrong picture there appears another animation which are funny enough to make them laugh. So in this work they want to see what animated pictures are behind the wrong answers. Anyway, the goal of this slide is to gain their attention and it really does. İ. Gürkan BOZKURT.

Superhero / Especially for 5th and 6th grades

Click one by one and do the true/false section.
The purpose of this work is to show the students how we can desribe a person with his/her abilities, likes/dislikes, have got/haven't got, can/can't, is/isn't, routines in a day... etc. To do this I created a hero and showed him in different sceenes to descibe who He is, one by one. At the end of the slide you can see a true/false section, a post activity for what we watched. So, tell this to your students before you show this slide. After it's done, want your students to create their own superhero just like the Hugeman. However, you may also want them to choose a superhero that we have already known (superman, batman...etc.) and to write about him. In one of my classes (5th grade) I couldn't do this activity because of the limited time and wanted them to do it as a homework. I wanted them to imagine that they are a superhero/superheroin. And if they can, they will be able to bring a superhero costume to school and wear it before the class and tell us what kind of a superhero/superheroin s/he is. The next week, almost all the students brought costumes with them. Some brought superhero cloaks, some brought masks... When I got in the classroom there were nearly 20 superheroes. I was really surprised. Anyway, they came to the board one by one and told to the class about themselves by miming and doing effects. Among them there were also bad characters such as Joker. It was really fun. İ. Gürkan BOZKURT.

Jobs / Animated ( It works like a powerpoint slide)

Click one by one and learn the jobs.
Instead of just writing on the board and want my students to write, I prepared this presentation. Because they remember much more easily when they see pictures rather than just words. In the slide there are lots of occupations. After this you may want your students how many of them do they remember and tell it to the students. I want a student to tell me the occupations s/he remembers without looking at her/his notebook or anything else... And if s/he can tell 5 or 10 of them, I tell the class if there anyone who can remember more. Then another students repeats what the first student said and adds some more... Suddenly it turns out to be a competition. Believe me a few minutes later you can hear all the occupations... Isn't it what we want! İ. Gürkan BOZKURT

Wh- Question Words / find the right option

This grammar point has always been underestimated. Or as far as I have inferred from the students. Because they can understand it, however when it is time to make sentences they failure. To show them the grammar point in real life and to emphasise asking the question, I prepared this slide. In the slides I prepard real life scenes, as I have always done, and wanted the students to find the right question or vice versa. Also I tried add some animations to make it more interesting. I use this to foster my students speaking abilities. İ. Gürkan BOZKURT

Present Continuous Tense / Game

Click anywhere to move the slide and when you see two speech bubles click on the right one to move on.
This slide can be used as a post activity after giving the present continuous tense. And the aim of this slide is to show the target grammar point in action. Also to show the students that this tense is used to talk about happening actions. Answer the right questions and a surprise end is waiting for you. İ Gürkan BOZKURT

Escape Granny 3 - how much/many-some/any-a/an

The Granny is locked in a house! Ss gives the the right answers and after each right answer you unlock and activate an object in the room. Move your cursor on the objects and find which one is activated. After you click on the activated object, something strange happens and finally the granny gets out of the house.
Here is another game which catches the interest of the most reluctant student. Even the less hardworking students involve in all ears. Because this is an escape game... Kids really enjoy looking for clues and think creatively. And with this game I can exploit it and show them the QUANTIFIERS. But what is an escape game? After clicking on the right option, you activate an object in the picture. There are 4-6 objects that you can activate. But only one object is working. If you find the correct one, you go through another room. If you click on the wrong object you see another question. And it goes on until you reach your complete freedom. İ. Gürkan BOZKURT

Simple Present Tense

This is a video about a man's routine life... He looks around from his window and tells us what happens as usual. I show this video to my students to let them see how this tense can be used in real life. After the video I want my students to talk about a day of their own, but this time not about what they do everyday. I want them to talk about what people around them do everyday. I want them to think like a documentariest. For example;"My mother wakes up early..." İ. Gürkan BOZKURT

ILLNESSES / should-shouldn't

This video is prepared to show the illnesses and making suggestions by using should/shouldn't. And the baest place for this is an emergency ward of a hospital. I use it as a warm up activity after teaching the target vocabulary so that the students cleary understands what language ability they are going to learn and how to use it. İ. Gürkan BOZKURT
